Beautify with Maple Syrup

Eat, drink and drizzle nature's candy...

With sprng in the air and warm sunshine on the horizon I'm reminded of a few ideas to beautify and enhance that derive naturally from within the Maple tree. Behind the crusted exterior of this beautiful specimen runs a substance known as sap which is essentially the lifeforce of the tree. When ingested or used topically, either in it's pure form or as Maple Syrup, one can obtain both beauty and health benefits.

The sap in it's natural state is a pure, clear liquid that resembles water and can be drank as such if it's very fresh and strained. During 'Operation Maple Syrup' my spouse took quite a liking to drinking the sap as it was collected from the two tapped trees we had in our yard. Every day we'd go outside and return with just half of what was actually in the pail! He claimed to love the taste and said that he felt energized as though he was taking in the strength of the tree... personally, I had a few mouthfuls and felt the tasteless beverage was better suited as syrup.

Maple Syrup is tree sap that has been boiled down and concentrated. Most use it on pancakes and waffles as a sweat treat during breakfast but it does have health benefits too. Pure maple syrup is considered an anti-oxidant which benefits your immune system and is also the perfect natural sweetner. The mineral Zinc and Manganese are also found which can benefit our health and possibly  bump up your sex life!

Remember, I am not a doctor (nor a beautician).
Do your own research but most importantly, ask your doctor silly!

For beauty...

Hair - Maple Syrup has qualities that leave hair full of lustre and shine while leaving a hint of maple scent that lingers all day long. Apply syrup to your hair when dry (2 cups for medium length hair). Then wrap your head securely with plastic wrap for 1/2 hour. Rinse away with hot water, shampoo, condition, dry and style as usual.

This is a very sticky process best done in the head hanging over tub while naked pose. Having the wrap removed from the box with a starter strip pulled out will help.

Face - The anti-oxidant qualities in Maple Syrup assist in retaining moisture and leaving skin feeling soft, clean and firm but not crackin' tight. In a bowl mix together a small amount of fine oatmeal, milk and maple syrup, as though you are making edible oatmeal. Gently massage the mixture into your skin. Rinse clean with warm water then eat the remaining portion, if you made too much ;)

My first attempt was with quick oats but the chunks we're too big. My second attempt I used the meat tenderizer and whacked them under a clean towel. Much better but a little messy.

p.s. Maple Tree's improve with age, much like us!
