Trying a new Clearasil Product on my Face ...ouch & ewww, just temporary right?!?

Since turning 35 my skin has transformed and I'm not impressed. I get more acne now than I ever did as a teenager and my life's stories are beginning to leave a roadmap on my face! My usual stressors are nothing severe compared to others, my diet hasn't really changed nor has my enviroment so I'm attributing it to aging?

In an effort to kick the zits I'm trying Clearasil's Daily Pore Cleansing Pads with Salicyclic Acid which is way different than the St. Ives Apricot Scrub I have been using forever'ish'.

The cleaning pads are easy to use and certainly remove dirt but the drying effect after using them twice a day has my sensitive skin freaking out!! The first couple of days were okay but by the fourth day (yesterday) my face was ruddy and red except where my skin is peeling off, that stuff's white! My pores seem smaller but by noon it doesn't matter because my face has a sheen on it like an oil slick which seems to be causing more acne not stopping it?!!

...I'm toning down the cleansing ritual a notch by rinsing off the product (unlike what the instructions say) and won't 'scrub' so hard?...keep 'ya posted with my fingers crossed ;)

Have you tried this product? Did you have a similar experience or worse? Please feel free to comment and thanks for visiting!

It's sandal season... are your toenails nasty or nice!?

I love summer and all that comes with it especially sundresses, strappy sandals and sun kissed skin. But, some skin is best left unkissed and unseen, those ten digits of terror called toenails!! Are your toenails nasty or nice?

Many are downright frightening while others are sexy (for feet that is ;) I know which ones I prefer, what about you?

From about the age of 13 to 30 I never showed my feet to anyone, ever! I never wore sandals nor flips flops or peep toe anything and I, never ever went barefoot! At the beach my feet were either buried in the sand or I was in running shoes, mules and clogs. Why? 'Cause I thought my feet were ugly, plain and simple!

...and now, I feel quite silly about tormenting and denying myself!! The change is thanks to my hubby and years of slight scoldings from those around me. I guess I finally clued in. Yes, I am stubborn and yes, I was self conscious for no reason (at least that's what I tell myself ;)

...okay, the feet in the blue sandals are mine (before and after polish). I love polish!! and now, they're on the www for the entire world to see. Isn't is funny how things change?

What starts out as a neglected pinky toe...

...could turn to into this!

Need a few more personal best tips ;) Manclubs or delicate extensions? & Tweek your sex appeal!

Music Video & Lyrics - When I Look at You - Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is an amazing young singer and performer and I've loved her since her wig wearing days as Hannah Montana. Now, she's all grown up and still releasing great dance tunes and sweet ballads that I just love!

Everybody needs inspiration
Everybody needs a song
A beautiful melody
When the nights so long
'Cause there is no guarantee
That this life is easy

Yea when my world is falling apart
When there's no light to break up the dark
That's when I, I ...I look at you

When the waves
Are flooding the shore and I can't
Find my way home anymore
That's when I,  I...I look at you

When I look at you I see forgiveness
I see the truth
You love me for who I am
Like the stars hold the moon
Right there where they belong
And I know I'm not alone

Yea, when my world is falling apart
When there's no light to break up the dark
That's when I, I ...I look at you

When the waves
Are flooding the shore and I can't
Find my way home anymore
That's when I, I...I look at you

You appear just like a dream to me
Just like kaleidoscope colors that
Cover me, all I need every breathe
That I breathe don't you know
You're beautiful...

Yea Yea Yea
When the waves
Are flooding the shore and I can't
Find my way home anymore
That's when I, I...I look at you
I look at you

Yea Yea Oh

And you appear just like a dream to me

What Wrinkles? Movie Review - The Bounty Hunter

Welcome to What Wrinkles? Movie Review

Some movies are worth the watch while others
fall flat and disappoint. Here's what I think about ...

The Bounty Hunter
Movie Review... 2.5 out of 5!

Comedy- Released in 2010
Starring - Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler, Giovanni Perez, Joel Garland

Two ex's reunite under unusual circumstances that have them both running for their lives and from each other. Together or apart the two characters Milo and Nicole realize that even though they didn't shine together as a couple as each others nemesis, they may just make it!

...this movie had my attention initially but within a half hour it was boring and I had to keep convincing myself to continue watching and to stay focused! The couples chemistry is evident and I love the sarcasm and quick wit but this movie was just a downer. I loved Jen back in Friends but I've yet to find another character that she's played where I can feel the same way and Gerard, well, he just doesn't do it for me (nor did Ross by the way ;)

Have you hugged your pet today? or your spouse?

I'm one of those girls who grew up believing that both live and stuffed animals had feelings. This transferred to a few dozen hamsters, gerbils, a dog, then the next dog, the cat, turtles, a snake, another cat, more dogs etc. And yes, I still believe animals have feelings just not the stuffed ones, is that weird?

...'cause most males species including my hubby seem to think so and I think it's weird they don't! Hence, they're 'alpha' male hunter gatherers and I'm a tree hugger? I don't know but, good thing there's a balance out there in the world.

Back to the spouse thing...one tidbit I do notice with my guy is that over our 12 year 'marriage' I think he gets a teenie weenie bit jealous of all the love and affection I dole out to anything covered in fur!

Have you hugged your spouse today? I have and will again when he gets home but I'll also say that yes, I'm guilty of lavishing more, consistent attention on my pets... my bad!

So, I'll try to make a more conscious effort to spread the love and give him a pat on the head too ;)

This is my current pet poochie Hunter, when he was a pup and now as a 4 yr. old, isn't he handsome how could you resist that face!? If we lived in LA he'd be approached with a modelling contract for sure! I do have his Momma too, her name is Rokz and a little black cat called Spooky but, I'll brag them up another day.

Cheers and thanks for poppin' in!

...omg!! Something happened to our Hamster :( RIP Bear!

Our family was in a mini state of shock yesterday afternoon when our beloved pet, a Teddy Bear Hamster named Bear, took sick in a manner I'd never seen before! Little Bear has been in our family since Christmas of 2007 and had been living like a king ever since, until this weekend :(  when Bear didn't come running. He barely even budged which was definitely not like our super friendly Bear! When cleaning his cage and it was time for him to scram temporarily he still had hardly moved and that's when I was called in.

I too called Bear's name and nothing so I picked him up. He was very sweaty and obviously passive but as he squirmed around in the cup of my hands I could see traces of blood being left behind on my hands. There were no visible wounds so I turned him over and omg!!...Bear's intestines had come right out of his tiny little body via his woohoo hence all of the blood! How? or Why? I just don't know?

It was one of  the most awful, terrible, sad things I've had to deal with and honestly I just didn't even know what to do. Our poor little hamster was in pain, both of the children were watching wholeheartedly and wow!... it was just really a shitty scenario.

Thoughts raced like do I go to the vet, flush it, give it a boink on the noggin' or wait the short countdown knowing that my hubby was going to be home in literally like 3 minutes'ish'............tic toc tic toc!

What would you have done? I certainly didn't want this sweet critter to suffer anymore than he clearly was but I ended up waiting for my husband. He was back in under 3 minutes and after looking Bear over determined in ten seconds that it was best if he just 'looked after it'.

:( ...in the end, we all left the room and he went outside with Bear. I don't know anything beyond that point nor do I care too.

I tell ya, I was balling my friggin' eyes out and so was our daughter! I just couldn't hold it in so we shared a moment and a hug then said our goodbye's.

...bye bye Bear, we love you! RIP

(the picture is of 'a' Teddy Bear Hamster not our Bear. The few pics I do have are too blurry to upload online)

Lipstick Shape & your Personality - Quiz - What does your lipstick say about you?

After years of hanging out with girly girls I've noticed that when it comes to applying makeup each one of us has our own style. Not only with our choices in colour, sheen, texture and brand but also the application process. But, did you know that the shape of our lipstick (after numerous applications) may actually reveal something about our personality?

Some women apply their lipstick on an angle, straight on or all over the map with a twist ;) ...what does your lipstick say about you?

I was curious because a friend of mine applies her lipstick like I do or so I thought until I noticed a wild curve in her lipstick that stood out like a sore thumb... compared to my rounded off almost flat lipstick! Her and I were both different in many ways and yet similar so I was wondering if there was something behind it.

That's when I found this visual quiz showing pics of lipstick and each one has a concept of what the personality type may be. Check and see what your lipstick shape says about you then me know with a comment, I'm curious if it's at all true with more than just a few chics!

According to them (whomever they are ;) my 'Flat Top' style means I'm...

- To the point

- Have high morals
- Am very dependable
- Am quick minded
- Love challenges
- Are careful about appearances

Honestly, I'd have to say that every one of those is true. My girlfriend's lipstick had such a deep curve like half a letter U that resembles the 'Sharp Angled Box Curved Tip' (only way more curved) so she's...creative, enthusiastic, energetic, talkative, loves attention, falls in love easily and is helpful which again ring true.

I guess if you only wear lip gloss then you're outta luck with this particular quiz ;)

MBTI, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator Test...discover your personality type with this perhaps a little more scientific approach and is far more intricate. ...so, I'm an INFJ...now what?

My excursion to a Tea party for 100 kids and their parents...

Today I was invited to a poetry recital / tea party by my Mother In Law on behalf of my two nieces and nephew. Not exactly how I'd normally spend my day but it was a nice switch up from my usual routine. The elementary school gym was decorated like a tea house with plastic table clothes, tissue paper flowers and artwork served up with a delightful spread of cookies and tea.

The entertainment was quite comical as kids (K-Gr2) got on stage and attempted to recite poetry and sing for a large audience from memory. Most boys had their hands crammed into their pockets as they shuffled around nervously while the girls huddled together, held hands and giggled. The poetry was either spewed out as if they needed to flee or mumbled between deep breathes and sighs. Funny enough you could tell which kids seemed to shine under the limelight and which ones seemed to wish the flooring would eat them up...too cute!

Both my twin nieces and nephew were adorable ;) It was wholesome fun, not quite the Russian Tea Room but their performances certainly had me smiling!

Watch as the poor kid in this video experiences his shining moment...

Movie Review - 2012

Welcome to What Wrinkles? Movie Review

Some movies are worth the watch while others
fall flat and disappoint. Here's what I think about ...

2012

Movie Review...3.75 out of 5!
Action Adventure - Released in 2009

Starring - John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Liam James, Morgan Lily, Thomas McCarthy, Zlatko Burić, Beatrice Rosen, Oliver Platt, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover, and Woody Harrelson.

This movie is definitely not a chic flic nor my type of must see movie and after watching it I'm reminded of why. Not that the story wasn't good or the concept but some of the graphics bothered me and it was just a little too far fetched. The escape from destruction was way too coincidental and they (the family the movie evolves around) seriously have horseshoes up their wazoo's!

...this movie was okay to watch once but I may not have sat through it's entirety if we weren't watching it together as a family. Oh, and I've never been a huge fan of John Cusack (sorry John ;) whom I didn't realize was also the star of this movie!

What's up for Mother's Day? ...its this Sunday!

Mother's Day is on Sunday... Have you made any plans to bestow love on your Momma?!

As a youngster I'd gift my Mom with pasta picture frames, misspelled cards and odd blobs of dough art each tackier than the last. And each year, her eyes would tear and the biggest smile would light up her face as though my cheesy gifts glittered in gold.

But now, I live thousands of miles away from my Mom so catching even just a glimpse of her smile won't be happening this Sunday. Thankfully, my Dad does a fine job looking after her for me and my brother is close by.

For spouses of spouses, I realize that your wife is not your Mother but if she's a Mother in any way, shape or form most likely she wants and needs to hear Happy Mother's Day from you! Sorry, but that's just the way it is ;)

Here are just a few simple and affordable ideas your Mom (or spouse) will love!

- a few kind words and a hug!
- a card and some fresh flowers
- breakfast in bed
- a picnic
- dinner out
- a finished Honey-do list
- guilt free relaxation
- or anything she wants ;)

For all of the Step Mom's out there who are Mothers to anothers and the single Dad's who play both roles...hugs all around!!

Barrier cream helps to protect Fingernails while in the Garden!

As an avid gardener my fingernails take a pretty good beating, even with gloves. But as of late I've made a point of jamming a barrier cream underneathe my nails and then putting my gloves on. Why? Well, I've been doing this in an attempt to prevent dirt from lodging underneathe my fingernails and to keep the dirt from staining the underside of the nails. So, even though dirt still gets underneathe my nails the clean up process is much, much faster which is why I thought I'd recommend it.

My two favorite's are Penaten Cream which is readily available and Glycosolid by Mark Cullen which I think is available at home hardware and/or garden stores. Both of these barrier creams aide in keeping irritants from penetrating the skin. My habit has been to load up the ends of my fingers then work it around to completly fill the underside of each fingernail. Don't be cheap with it, cram it under there then give your hands a quick once over put your gloves on and get back to work already, those weeds aren't pulling themselves out.

Clean up with a warm soapy water and voila beautiful nails! Unless you had man clubs to begin with it's a cream not a miracle ;)

The Do's & Don'ts of Packing your Luggage... "I've got nothing to wear!" while travelling, sucks!

We've all experienced the 'I've got nothing to wear' syndrome at home, possibly daily ;) but when you're on holidays and living out of a suitcase this statement truly sucks!

I'd consider myself a somewhat seasoned traveller yet I just can't seem to wrap my head around what to and not to bring! It's like an editing issue ;) My luggage is either excessively heavy and overstuffed and/or I've forgotten essentials. I've even left stuff behind items on purpose assuming there would be something to buy at my destination which never works out!

So, if for no other reason than to save my back and overweight charge$ this clothes horse will 'try' to stick to the following tips when packing my luggage. How about you?

What to pack...

- Clothes that make you feel confident and are ideally comfortable ;) Your favorite, must have, go to items must be packed plus the accessories that make them shine, including shoes!

- Keep your colour choice to the neutral family like white, black, brown, khaki, beige etc. and choose items that don't have patterns. Add your own personal sizzle with the accessories!

- New items are okay but if you haven't fallen in love with the item yet it's risky, especially with shoes.

- You need one little black dress and another equally versatile, sexy n' chic number... along with a pair of boring black dress pants, slacks or trousers (I wear pants, I think Ellen wears trousers ;)

- Pack two tops, shirts or blouses for every bottom including a dressy jacket, shrug, sweater or cardigan.

- Bring two swimsuits along with a beach cover up, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a totebag.

- Be sure to pack for the actual weather conditions, not for what you hope them to be! Meaning swimsuits ought to have been turtleneck sweaters.

- Include only three pairs of shoes which includes the pair you are wearing (ya right, I can't see this one happening ;)

To reduce wrinkles...

- Turn clothing items inside out because apparently inverted wrinkles are less visible?

- Put wrinkle proned items towards the top and bulky, heavier items at the bottom.

- Place a layer of tissue paper or dry cleaning bags between items (an impractical luxury ;)

- Roll items like ties, socks, pantyhose and t-shirts then place them in empty corners and open spaces.

General tips...

- Rolled clothing, as opposed to folded clothing, saves on space and reduces wrinkles.

- Avoid your girly bits being strewn across the customs counter by placing them in a mesh bag.

- Keep your shoes in a bag, heel to toe, then line them against the edges of your suitcase. Stiletto heels can easily poke through luggage damaging both of the items and possibly taking out an eye ;)

- Place all toiletries together in a sealed bag. Liquid items need room to expand under pressure and may burst or leak if they are either too full and/or not sealed properly. Liquids, amongst other things, are not allowed on the plane! For carry on luggage liquids containers must be less than 100ml or 3.4oz's (see list) and sealed in a bag.

- Choose the appropriate size luggage for your trip. Excess space causes shuffling which can damage and wrinkle items while overstuffing can stress out zippers and spouses!

- Keep your valuables, travel documents and medications with you at all times, either in your purse or in your carry on luggage. Split traveller's cheques, credit cards and money in case of an unforeseen accident or theft occurs. You could also do this with clothing in case one person's luggage gets lost in the shuffle.

- If you're bringing gifts on your travels don't wrap them until you arrive at your destination.

- If you are flying pick your travel outfit carefully because you will be asked to remove all accessories including your jacket and belt. A cute satin cami held together with safety pins may prove embarrassing. Shoes with metal bling will also have to come off so pack your odor eaters and hope others have too they may be sitting beside you!

...and have fun, regardless of what you've forgotten, wrinkled, ruined, lost, who you're visiting or with if you must, you're on vacation!

Lady and the Various Items of Luggage She Will Need When Travelling

An FYI tidbit to mention if someone razz's you about what you spent on your luggage set or what you brought with you...Louis Vuitton has a complete set of luggage that includes an armoire trunk, a wardrobe trunk, a steamer trunk, four matching suitcases, a hat box, a cruiser bag and a jewelry case...how freakin' awesome is that!! and all for only $60 Grandish ;) hmmm, I could probably fit all of my belongings into that luggage set! and it's sure not the hockey bag my spouse suggested I use!

...Part 2 - After the summer vacation of 2010 in July, I've written an updated version of what I learned but didn't necessarily apply ;) Packing your Luggage for Vacation (update)
