Music Video & Lyrics - Dark Waltz; Hayley Westenra - Phantom of the Opera

The movie, Phantom of the Opera, wasn't invited into my movie or music repetoire until 2004's version was released which starred Emmy Rossum. Her voice captivated me on the movie previews and within a year, it was on sale for $2 at the local corner store! A 'me night' was soon arranged and I really loved the movie. No formal review for this one, only due to it's age (first published in 1911) but the singing is amazing! If anything, I regretted not watching it sooner much like the Titanic ;)

Anyways, sometimes I love sappy music that strikes a cord
and lately, everything seems to strike a cord. Enjoy..

Dark Waltz - Phantom of the Opera - Music Video

Lyrics for Dark Waltz
Hayley Westenra - Phantom of the Opera

We are the lucky ones
We shine like a thousand suns
When all of the colour runs together

I'll keep you company
In one glorious harmony
Waltzing with destiny forever

Dance me into the night
Underneath the moon shining so bright
Turning me into the light

Time dancers whirling past
I gaze through the looking glass
And feel just beyond my grasp is heaven

Sacred geometry
Where movement is poetry
Visions of you and me forever

Dance me into the night
Underneath the moon shining so bright
Turning me into the light

Dance me into the night
Underneath the full moon shining so bright
Let the dark waltz begin
Oh let me wheel - let me spin
Let it take me again
Turning me into the light

p.s. If you have dogs, turn up the sound and maybe you'll discover a super star. My dog, Hunter loves opera music and howls like a banshee whenever this type of music is on, too cute ;0) ...but does that mean he likes it or hates it?

My thoughts on Mark Cullen's Gardening Tools - Love the Trug!! Hand Shovel & Gloves, not so much.

The weather has been absolutely perfect for the month of April and up here in Canada, that's a huge wow factor for this time of year. Temperatures have been in the mid teens to mid twenties which has my plants, including the weeds, growing like wildfire. I've been outside feverishly plucking, digging and transplanting the foliage and both my body and my gardening tools have taken a supreme beating!

My back is ouch but with more time outside will be as good as new (I hope ;) but my gardening tools, they've seen better days. Within a couple of weeks I have already tossed two brand new items into the trash but I've also fallen in love!

Mark Cullen's gardening tools...

Women's Goatskin Gardening Gloves - I bought the pink pair (for ladies ;) and alhtough they are pretty good gardening gloves, within two days the seam around the base of the fingers on one of the gloves came undone. My skin's now exposed and dirt enters that much easier!

Hand Shovel - The hand shovel was used only a few times until it began to bend where it joins the handle. As I continued to use it, eventually it just snapped off leaving me two useless pieces. Yes, my ground soil is a little hard due to some clay but come on? I'm also sure that if used with prepackaged maliable potting soil and container gardening, this wouldn't have happened.

Gardening Trug - I had to look up the name of this awesome product, to see what it was called... other than a little piece of heaven ;) This awesome, flexible and light plastic container is perfect for toting everything garden related from weeds to plants, water or tools!

Out diggin' in the garden... and making progress, slowly ;)

I spent yesterday afternoon poking around the gardens and managed to accomplish a few more overdue tasks leftover from last fall. As I made progress with the weeds, digging up and splitting plants came along in tow.

Last summer, a new sewer system was installed on our property which inevitably tore up the entire left side of our yard. In an effort to save money we ordered some top soil, bought grass seed and proceeded to care for the dirt and weeds that thrived! Now, months and oodles of seed later, I finally noticed tiny, green hairs coming up from the dirt. Yaaa!

With three attempts at seeding over the past 8 months, I wonder which batch of seeds took? Are they from the first batch laid out late last summer or the one's I just scattered a couple of weeks ago?

...quilty of not following my own advice and went out to work without glasses, again but luckily I'm unscathed unlike last time! It's really just a hard habit to form, I've never been accustomed to wearing sunglasses, ever. Not even to just be cool ;) ...maybe I need to incorporate them as one of my essential garden tools?

Rhubarb and Lupines are up and looking fantastic and my Bleeding Hearts are already flowering! Transplanted Lupines, Chics n' Hens, Iris' and some pink flowered ground cover (name?)...to be continued.

Thanks for the visit, please feel free to comment!

Movie Review - Sex and the City

Welcome to What Wrinkles? Movie Review

Some movies are worth the watch while others
fall flat and disappoint. Here's what I think about ...

Sex and the City
Movie Review...5 out of 5!
 Drama - Released in 2008
Starring - Sara Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler

Carrie and the girls shine in this movie. I love Carrie's intro dress and Vivienne Westwood!...but I'm not going to tell you anything else except that the triles and tribulations of finding and keeping long lasting love can be earth shattering and not always in a good way. You'll need the tissue for this 'me' night movie.

...Sex and the City is a movie I waited far too long to see and with part 2 coming out soon, it was time to watch! I'm so glad too, this movie is the perfect closure to the show and simply has me hooked!

It's action versus chick flicks. Which summer movie sequel will you see? Iron Man(R) 2 or Sex and the City(R) 2? Tell us. Then get a $100 movie gift card FREE, details apply.

Movie Review - The Blind Side

Welcome to What Wrinkles? Movie Review

Some movies are worth the watch while others
fall flat and disappoint. Here's what I think about ...

The Blind Side
Movie Review... 4 out of 5!
Drama - Released in 2009
Starring - Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron, Jae Head, Lily Collins

The Blind Side is a very touching story of how one single person can touch so many lives and how those lives take the time to notice and actually care back. This movie really is heart warming and I think I enjoyed simply because it's based on a true story. Quinton as Michael is a great choice!

...this movie portrays a family who went through an entire change of living without many pitfalls, they only touched lightly on that side of the subject. I'm wondering if it was as easy to conform, for everyone, as the movie suggests or was it just way too much to cover? This movie helps to maintain my belief that there are good people in this world! :) and kept me interested for the most part (except for when they delved into football a little much). This is a tissue in hand type of movie. Enjoy!

Do you see via Lasik, contacts, goggles or squinting?

Due to my recent 'eye poke' story I've had to endure wearing my goggles all week! Not the sexiest term but when I see myself in the mirror me in goggle just ain't sexy! I don't care how many eye glass commercials suggest spec's are sleek, stylish, trendy and hip but on me, they're just plain ugly.

Turn back the clock to when I was in grade 4...I thought it was cool to squint but even cooler to wear glasses, my whole family wore them. So when it was my turn I spent time deliberating and finally chose a 'pretty' rainbow polka dot pattern (remember it was the 70's ;). I loved them so much that they were on my face asap!

My excitement carried over through the weekend, until I went to school. Within seconds of putting on my new spec's I was labelled a four eyed freak and laughed at! After 2 days of verbal torture, my goggles never came out of my school bag again. My confidence was crushed and it wasn't until grade 9 that I'd give it another go. My next pair being styled after Lynda Carter / Angela Bower. They were the biggest saucers you'd ever seen, covered half my face and I loved them too! End result was the same thing only worse 'cause I was a teenager :(

...some twenty odd years later (and only one pair of glasses), my dream of contact lenses was realized and I could actually see, with confidence, for the first time since grade 4!

Flash forward another ten and I foresee Lasik eye surgery...

What I'm wondering is if you are either in denial and do nothing or are you are a goggles girl, a Lasik chic or contact lens baby!!?

What's an 'old blue hair' and how not to become one?!

An 'old blue hair' is the little old lady you see at the grocery store, in church or the casino with elastic waist pants, a floral blouse, coat sweater and blue hair! Quick, look in the mirror. Have you become one? Is your hair blue maybe even purple? Take another look...

I'm asking because it's not just little old ladies that get the blue hair sydrome. It's anyone who's lost their base hair color and have since botched the job of turning what was left, back into sexy tresses. How? By attempting to alter a mixture of grey, white and yellow hair back to their original color of choice and youth without consultation.

...and yes, I did say yellow hair (much like old man beard). As if it's not bad enough to get grey hair it also turns yellow due to enviromental issues like pollution and smoking.

So, while most blue hairs prefer their natural color they are simply guilty of ignoring professionals and using store bought color rinses improperly and far too often. A bum deal thanks to heredity and cheapness? So, unless you are Emo, edgy or rebellious, it's Halloween, your name is Marg Simpson or you're an Anime please ask a stylist for help...questions are free ;)

...and when you see your next blue hair actin' like they've got it goin' on. remember, it could be you oneday thinking you look like a hot, silver fox (eyesight and perception depletes with age)! Do you want to be the one to burst their bubble?

Tips for 'normal' looking hair ...

- do not use colored rinses and dyes without consultation.
- use a clarifying shampoo to fight product residue and enviromental build up on your hair.
- use hairsprays, gels and creams that stay clear and add shine without color.
- if your hair looks yellow to you, but your friends and the stylist swear it's bright white, believe them!

Protect those Pretty Peepers while working in the Garden!

The weather has been simply beautiful with sunny, clear blue skies which beckons me outdoors without a thought. Quite often my day begins by sitting on the front step watching over the garden, our neighbourhood and scoping out what tasks need to be done. After the winter the list is endless but the other day a specific task nagged which prompted me to get up and get the clippers.

Once in hand, I proceed to the tree that needs to be removed. It's just a little one, only a finger thick but too rooted to simply pull out. As I bend down to grab the tree trunk with my left hand this f'en branch from a prickly pine tree jumped right into my eyeball!! Ouch!

Actually, it was more like blonde me gapped out and walked right into the prickly branch!

It jammed right into my left eye and immediately I was sitting on the ground. Once clear on what just happened off into the bathroom I went, washed my hands then pryed my watery eye open. A red bloodshot eye stared back with a contact lens jammed in the corner. All I could think of was at least I could see that old ugly red eye staring back!

End result: my contact lens protected my eye from being stabbed with the pine needle. It was scratched ever so slightly. The pine branch must have hit the lens then slid back up into my eye or something.

Note: wear sunglasses or protective eyewear when working outside.

Note to self: this isn't the first time you've been poked in the eye blondie! Pay attention to trees that have a tendency to just leap out ;)

To my contact lens, may you rest in peace. The hole that shoots right through your center, saved my eye. Hug, ty!... That could easily have been my eyeball and actual lens.

Spoil youself with Homemade Bubble Bath!

After a long weekend spent with family doing the Easter thing and getting a good head start on the spring yardwork, I've since treated myself to two lovely bubble baths! Last night I stirred up a concoction that left my skin so smooth and moisturized it left me wanting another. So, this morning I mixed up a larger amount and added some of my favorite parfume. I've now got enough to last for about a month of bubble baths, if I'm not too careless when pouring ;)

Make you own moisturizing bubble bath...

- 3 parts unscented, clear, gentle dish soap, hand soap or shampoo
- 1 part olive oil
- Jean Paul Gaultier 'Classique' Au de Parfume, your favorite parfume or essential oil (optional)
- Water; just a small amount to thin your bubble bath solution (if necessary)
- Small container with lid

Pour the above ingredients into your chosen container and shake well. When you open the scented version you should be able to smell what is too come ;) if not, add more! At bath time, be sure to shake your bubble bath mixture before pouring as well be sure to eliminate anything that may interupt your moment of pleasure. Sample size perfumes work great for this little project and most perfume counters give them away for free.
